P. Toward a Science of Consciousness Conference

TSC 2015 (June 8-13, 2015), Helsinki, Finland

A large delegation from DEI, comprising around 50 faculty members, research scholars and students visited Helsinki, Finland for the Toward a Science of Consciousness Conference (TSC 2015) organized from June 8-13, 2015 for both the East-West Forum on June 8 as well as the main event in the following days.

The East-West Forum on June 8 was held in video-conferenced mode with DEI, Dayalbagh and was attended by around 100 delegates, 60 from the West and 40 from India. The Vision Talk was delivered from Dayalbagh by Revered Prof. P.S. Satsangi, Chairman, Advisory Committee on Education, Dayalbagh Educational Institutions. Panel Discussion was held on “Consciousness : Integrating Eastern and Western Perspectives” with notable inputs from DEI also. Among the foreign experts at the East-West Forum were Prof. Stuart Hameroff, Prof. Rocco J Gennaro, Dr. Anirban Bandyopadhyay, Prof. Mani Lal Bhaumik, Prof. John Hagelin, Dr. Tarja Kallio-Tamminen, Prof. Max Velmans and Dr. Douglas Friesen.

In the subsequent days, DEI delegation participated fully in the main event from June 9-13. DEI concurrent talk and posters were held on June 10. The Poster session involved lot of discussion and continued till late in the evening. The conference was renamed as ‘The Science of Consciousness’ (TSC 2016 onwards) instead of ‘Toward a Science of Consciousness’ (till TSC 2015).
