Magnetically Shielded Room at DEI

G. Magnetically Shielded Room at DEI
A Magnetically Shielded Room with SQUID Gradiometer has been fabricated at DEI Quantum-Nano Systems Centre. Fabrication was completed and preliminary data gathered on December 15, 2012. It is used for consciousness related experiments, both in individual and group modes.
SQUIDs are Superconducting Quantum Interference Devices which are used for measurement of very weak magnetic fields, such as those emanating from the brain of a human being, or from spins in the case of a quantum computer. The SQUID devices are cooled to a temperature of less than 4 Kelvins above absolute zero and have to be shielded from the ambient magnetic field of the earth, which is large enough to drown out the weak measurements aimed at in the SQUID-based experiment. This necessitates the installation of a Magnetically Shielded Room (MSR) to house these SQUID devices. IGCAR Kalpakkam has a similar SQUID-based facility housed in a Magnetically Shielded Room. The DEI shielded room fabrication was completed and preliminary data gathered on December 15, 2012. It is used for consciousness related experiments, both in individual and group modes. The results obtained so far reinforce the previous observations made in Satsang Hall about existence of certain frequencies (4.5 Hz, 43 Hz, 76 Hz, 108 Hz, 126 Hz) during meditation-cum- prayer sessions.
