L. International School on Quantum and Nano Computing Systems and Applications

QANSAS 2013 (November 27 – December 1, 2013)

International School on Quantum and Nano Computing Systems (QANSAS 2013) was organized from November 27–December 1, 2013. A special forum on ‘Quantum Theory and Science of Consciousness’ was organized on November 26 with Plenary Talks by Prof. Emmanuel Pothos, City University, UK and Prof. Reinhard Blutner, Germany. The event was inaugurated on November 28 by Prof. Marcelo Gleiser, Dartmouth. In the ensuing sessions, there was active participation with 23 invited speakers from top academic and research institutes like University of Waterloo, University of London, City University, London, NIMS Japan, Oxford University, University of Arizona, University of Amsterdam, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Ropar, HCRI Allahabad, TIFR Mumbai, and of course, DEI, Dayalbagh. A special session on entrepreneurship was conducted by Prof. Howard Armitage, University of Waterloo. In the Valedictory Session on December 1, Vision Talk was delivered by Revered Prof. P.S. Satsangi, Chairman, Advisory Committee on Education, on the topic “Consciousness : Towards Integrating Art and Science of Inner Experience”. Sir Roger Penrose, Prof. Stuart Hameroff and Dr. Anrban Bandyopadhyay also delivered Plenary Talks on December 1 and conducted a Special Workshop on Orch-OR Theory of Consciousness on December 2.
