QANSAS 2015 at DEI



Q. International School on Quantum and Nano Computing Systems and Applications QANSAS 2015 (November 25 – 28, 2015)

International School on Quantum and Nano Computing Systems (QANSAS 2015) was organized from November 25–28, 2015 with 24 invited speakers from top academic and research institutes including University of Waterloo; University of Alberta; University of California at Berkeley and Santa Barbara; Wichita State University; Texas A & M University; New York University; Kiel University; University College London; IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, JNU Delhi, IISER Kolkata, TIFR Mumbai, and of course, DEI, Dayalbagh..

A special forum on ‘Consciousness : Integrating Eastern and Western Perspectives’ was organized on November 25. Vision Talk was delivered by Revered Prof. P.S. Satsangi, Chairman, Advisory Committee on Education, Dayalbagh Educational Institutions entitled “Towards Ultimate Consciousness Conjecture (for the Human Microcosm and the Grand Macrocosm)”. Plenary Talks were delivered by Prof. Gyorgy Buzsaki, The Neuroscience Institute, New York University entitled “Emergence and mechanisms of cognition” and Prof. Semir Zeki, University College London entitled “The neurobiology of aesthetic experiences and the significance of beauty”. Panel Discussion moderated by Mr. Prem Prashant on “Consciousness : Integrating Eastern and Western Perspectives” was held in the evening.

The Inaugural Talk on November 26 was delivered by Prof. Elizabeth Behrman, Wichita State University entitled “Quantum Learning”. A Special Workshop on Quantum Field Theory (QFT) was offered on November 27 by Prof. Anthony Zee, University of California at Santa Barbara and author of the famous book “Quantum Field Theory in a Nutshell”. Another Workshop on “Local Activity and the Edge of Chaos are the Origin of Complexity” was offered by Prof. Leon Chua, University of California at Berkeley on the same day.

The Valedictory Talk on November 28 was delivered by Prof. William R. Klemm, Texas A & M University, entitled “Mental Biology: The "Ghost in the Machine" Materializes”. Panel Discussion on “Consciousness, Decoherence and Measurement Problem in Quantum Theory” moderated by Mr. Prem Prashant was held in the Valedictory Function which was also attended by Mr. Vinay Sheel Oberoi, Secretary, Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, who delivered the Convocation Address at DEI in the afternoon.
